On July 1st, the lady who made me a Mommy turns six. SIX. S-I-X. How?! We’re getting ready to embark on our first ever Family Road trip up the east coast, where we’ll be surprising Alexandria with some fun Birthday celebrations along the way. Which she was totally excited about until she realized that meant she wouldn’t be celebrating at a Birthday Party with her friends! Papi the softee’s immediate response was “How can we NOT throw her a birthday party?”
We asked her what she wanted to do and her response was simply “Can we make it Rainbows and Unicorns and just play and have fun with my friends?” Easy enough Chech, Easy enough. I’m a huge fan of ‘making’ our birthday party themes so that Alex can begin to learn how good it feels to work on a project and watch it come to life! Alex LOVED building the pieces of her decor! Here she is helping me make the pieces of the Unicorn Cupcakes. You can find the tutorial we used here.
And here is how they turned out!
We made everything on the dessert table – except the cake which we ordered from Publix and just added the decor to! Although the buttercream didn’t really hold up very well in the South Florida heat – it still tasted pretty darn good!
We also made all of the centerpieces that really helped us channel our inner Rainbow Unicorn Magic.
I couldn’t find a rainbow file in the projects that worked for what I wanted, so I made one! If you’re a Cricut user, here is a link to the Rainbow project.
Alex also helped me put together the fabric banner we hung over the dessert table – and again she was so excited to contribute to making her party feel magical.
Although I didn’t take as MANY photos as I had originally hoped, I was lucky to have friends and family there to help out! Here are some of our faves from the rest of the day.
Huge Thank You to Kari aka Graceful Mommy for some of these awesome photos!
…and in the famous last words of every Mom after a big Birthday Party – don’t ever let me do that again! It’s not like Mimi’s birthday is in August or anything (lol). Anyone else have the same feelings after birthday parties?
