I made this list just because. There’s no order, and no real point – other than to just be grateful for some really awesome shit. This isn’t gonna get mushy – just a random observation of stuff I appreciate.
1. “The Blogosphere.” I’ve been reading a lot more lately – other blogs, specifically. Now that I’ve finally come to terms with being an adult, I’m not quite sure I’m doing this right. So, I’ve been extra fascinated with stories from people “I wanna be when I grow up”… Stories of amazing destination wedding photographers who got to capture a love story on the other side of the planet. Or of this super awesome South Florida fashionista who found the PERFECT strapless peplum dress for spring in the melting humidity that is Miami. Endless how-tos, and ‘DIY’ posts, filled with beautiful photography & super easy directions. I am grateful for these amazing people and their abilities to write, photograph and share all the cool crap they get to do.
2. Bathroom changing tables. Tell me if I’m wrong fellow Moms [and Dads] but there is NOTHING more frustrating than a dirty diaper as you sit down to dinner and a restaurant. Yes I’m spoiled and we eat out more than we should. No I’m not sorry that I’m complaining about something so ridiculous but hear me out. Until Alexandria is potty trained, there are ZERO visits to any fun hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Not because she won’t eat – but because if she decides it’s time to go to the bathroom, there is NOWHERE to change her diaper. Hell, I can’t even sit down at some CHIPOTLES for gods sake. YOU try changing a Poop diaper in the passenger seat of a Camry. So, a big thanks to those restaurants that spend the extra [pennies] to make a restaurant family friendly.
3. Cup holders. No seriously. Cup holders. Really no explanation needed. The cozy cup cradle in my car has become home to rehydrating deliciousness as I battle the commute through 2 counties, 4 major highways and too many cities to count. The simple things in life.
4.Frosty the Snowman. Yes, the Christmas Classic. For some CRAZY reason, Alex is obsessed with Frosty the Snowman. She takes baby spoons and marches around the house singing the song. Then begs me to get a Spatula to follower her around for a “Pawaade!”. Aside from this ridiculous cuteness, Frosty the Snowman has ALSO given me the magical power to stop a tantrum. You know how at the end of the Frosty story, it gets hot and homeboy essentially melts away to a bottle of zephyrhills? Well, apparently Frosty says [and yes I had to look up the exact lyric] “Don’t you cry, I’ll be back again someday.” As soon as she starts to get whiny or the warning signs of a tantrum start to rear their ugly heads, you just ask her “What does Frosty say?” and her response is “Noooo Crying!” followed by big deep breaths to calm herself down. Yes I’m aware that I might be giving her a complex about crying – but I do not DARE abuse this magical power. It’s reserved for real big tantrums, especially ones in a public place where I know I’m about to be THAT mom with the crying kid in the store.
Just for fun – what are some random things you’re grateful for? 🙂
