I cannot believe that the little baby Mimi is 3 years old. Three, the big three.
This last year has been full of challenges – the “terrific” twos as some people might call it. Yes that terrific is in quotes because it’s total sarcasm. But this child, let me tell you, SHE is the kind of child to grow up and change the world. I call her my Sour Patch Kid – just enough sour to know when to stand up for herself and those around her followed by the sweetest cuddles in all the land. She has taught me how to be patient when I just want to explode and reminded me how beautiful the beginning years of this crazy life can truly be. Sometimes I forget she’s so little because her spirit is so big. I’ll miss that refreshing feeling of getting wrapped up in her toddlerhood – it really helps remind us that some of the simple things in this world really are incredible.
Perfect example – I couldn’t wait for her party to watch the pure joy on her face when everyone sang her Happy Birthday. She just watched everyone celebrate her sister and couldn’t stop talking about how she can’t wait for everyone to sing to her and I knew she was going to bask in all the glory that this familiar song brings. Especially when you’ve only heard it sung to you 2 times in your entire life and definitely don’t remember it.
Her birthday was SUPPOSED to be this super fun splashy Moana day – but mother nature had other ideas and Maui couldn’t pull springs with the Rain Gods and at the last minute we had to move it to the house. I’m using this as the excuse as to why I don’t have many photos from the day…
We worked really hard to transform our little living space into the Isle of Montanui – and welcome 50 of our closest family & friends to our house to play!
Chech wanted to do something a little extra cool for baby sister’s birthday party – so we made Moana-inspired Tamatoa Slime!
This recipe called for Borax – which I fed into the hype and was nervous about. So we actually used THIS RECIPE here – that used baking powder and contact solution for a bit of a kid-friendlier concoction.

This stuff was really a hit and THANK GOODNESS the kids loved it. When plans get rained on – slime is an easy way to entertain busy hands.
I can’t believe that this beautiful child of mine is 3. She had so much fun with all of her friends at her party and is counting down the days to the next birthday. <3
